Anna Thelemarck was recommended to me by the local contractor/project manager of our planned kitchen renovation. Our small four square in Burlington, Vermont had an outdated and woefully inefficient kitchen: dark, closed in, and a design challenge due to the numerous doors leading elsewhere out of that small space. Anna listened carefully when we, both of us avid cooks, said we needed more light and more functional workspace (both cabinetry and counters), and also to carve out a new half-bath, all without enlarging the footprint on our small lot. Anna encouraged an iterative design process as she submitted plans and sketches, which we critiqued and for which we gave feedback, and she then submitted more sketches and ideas and offered very helpful advice to help us understand the complicated process. And we ended up with a design that wholly satisfied our needs and hopes and aesthetic. Her genius solution to solving the issues of light, space, fitting in a half-bath, repositioning a doorway and stairwell to the basement, and opening up that dark kitchen was to knock down the wall between kitchen and dining room, and create the smallest bump-out (3 x 9 feet) which contained a big piece of the kitchen business (double sink, dishwasher, large windows overlooking the back garden, and inset lights which thoroughly illuminated that workspace). I would, without hesitation, hire Anna for any design project I had in mind. It was a pleasure to work with her.

I've been using Struktur's services for the house I just bought. Built in 1921, it's in great shape, but I wanted to make some upgrades and changes. Anna of Struktur has been so helpful assisting me with sketches, floorpans, finishes, design ideas, suggestions on what I can and can't do and also staying within my budget. I never thought I'd be a person using an architect - I think of them as being too expensive for my budget. The cool thing about Anna is that she does higher-end commercial/residential work but also likes to work with normal folks like me who don't need brand new construction and just need "a la carte" services at affordable prices. The whole house buying/remodeling process can be very overwhelming, but Anna's helped me feel less stressed and more informed. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd make a lot of decisions I might end up regretting down the road. Highly recommend!

Anna Thelemarck designed and oversaw a 1 million dollar renovation of our office space in Colchester, VT. It was the first large-scale renovation since 47 years and required totally gutting our 1830's building and rebuilding it in a way that was welcoming to our long-standing clients and families. We serve people with developmental and intellectual disabilities so the space had to be welcoming, somewhat familiar and totally accessible. The renovation went smoothly and the results are astounding.
